Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has reported on war zones for the past more than 45 years. Her work focuses on human suffering and disasters. Curry was renowned for her coverage of the humanitarian crisis in war-ravaged nations and natural disasters. Curry's father was a sailor in the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Curry's parents were married in Japan, the country where her father was stationed following World War II. As a result of her father's active military duty, the family travelled frequently. Curry was a high school graduate in Ashland Oregon. When she graduated from University of Oregon, Curry obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism degree in the year 1978. After that, she moved to anchoring and reporting for KGW, an NBC-affiliated station in Portland. After four years, she was appointed an anchor by KCBS TV in Los Angeles.
